Youth Education Service in Moreton-In-Marsh

Why is YES working in Moreton in Marsh?

In 1993 YES attracted the attention of a charitable trust based in Blockley, Gloucestershire. Since then the Barry and Peggy High Foundation has funded some of our work in Bristol and is keen that this is replicated in the Moreton in Marsh area.

In 2005 we researched the need for Literacy/Numeracy basic skills provision in Moreton in Marsh. Since then we have been funded to deliver such provision by both the Barry and Peggy High Foundation, Summerfield Charitable Trust, Charles Irving Trust, Barnwood Trust and Dulverton Trust. We work in partnership with other local deliverers of Adult Education through the North Cotswolds Consortium and are hoping to find a means of sustaining this work in the future.

Who is it for?

Adults and young people who want to develop their basic skills in literacy and/or numeracy skills.

What’s special?

YES provides an informal learning environment which is particularly suitable for students who need to develop further confidence before they are ready for a mainstream course. Work is planned around student’s interests, enthusiasms and needs.

All students have:

• A confidential interview before joining a group
• An individual learning plan
• Small groups, lots of individual help and support
• Teaching by trained staff
• Suitable learning materials
• Regular discussion of progress
• Fair and equal treatment
• A chance to get a qualification

What qualifications are available?

English

These students can work towards Functional Skills, Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy Certificates. These qualifications are at five levels so there should be one to suit most people.

Where?

We are currently running groups at :

• Moreton in Marsh Public Library, Stow Road, GL56 0DR and;
• White House, this group is a closed one – invited guests only.

When?

Mondays and Tuesdays, please phone for further details of venues and times as these are subject to change.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! It’s free to you at the moment because we are receiving funding from the Barry and Peggy High Foundation, Dulverton Trust and Charles Irving Trust.

How do I find out more?
