About Us
The Youth Education Service (YES) is well respected in Bristol as a provider of informal learning opportunities to young people and adults. YES complements other providers by targeting ‘hard to reach’ groups. It offers a personal, individual and accessible service.
YES was established in 1973 and is an educational charity. It is a Partner Provider of the City of Bristol College and continues to meet the Matrix Quality Standard.

What’s Special about YES?
The Youth Education Service, as the name suggests, exists at the interface of youth work and education. The youth work ethos, person centred and with an emphasis on the development of self-esteem and motivation, meets the education and skills agenda. We are thus uniquely placed to deliver programmes focussed on enabling individuals to recognise skills they didn’t realise they had, and build on these. We appreciate that individuals who have had an unhappy time in the mainstream educational system, where the teacher is an authority figure and the curriculum is the agenda, need a different approach and a fresh start. Our approach is non-authoritarian, ‘non-academic’ and non-judgemental.
